  • I really hope they're going to add more. I really think they are going to need more star power if they want a ton of people to show up. The headliners aren't the greatest, but the 2nd tier bands are pretty sweet.

    Some glaring omissions:
    Arcade Fire
    Flaming Lips
    Sonic Youth
    The Shins
    BRMC
    Dino Jr.
    Decemberists
    New Pornographers
    Wolfmother
    Arctic Monkeys
    Kaiser Chiefs
    Minus the Bear
    Bloc Party
    Ben Kweller
    Built to Spill

I'll admit that I'm a little dissapointed...hardly "blown away". Weakest Lolla lineup in recent history. There are a dozen or so bands that i'll like to see...but really there isn't anyone that made me jump for joy. Here's to hoping they'll add a few more artists!

I love this lineup. Only disappointment is Arcade Fire and RATM.

    MMJ
    PJ
    KOL
    Silversun Pickups
    Modest Mouse
    Ben Harper
    CYHSY

dude, all of those bands were there last year. most bands dont go back to back years. and manu chao was a headliner last year. so was ween. they tend to have some kinda eccentric headliners. this isn't bonnaroo where they're trying to be the biggest corporate plug ever and have every band a major name. lolla is more about under the radar and up and coming acts.

that said, i do think theyw ill add more as the summer progresses. and ive still got hope that arcade fire will play.

and built to spill sucked at lolla last year anyway. it's not their scene. i saw them at the metro a month later. it was 100 times better.

As exciting as it is to have three of my all-time favorite artists all in one place (PJ, Patti Smith, Ben Harper), the rest of the line-up doesn't do much for me. I'd like to see MMJ, the Black Keys, the Black Angels, Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio and a few others, but not enough to drive to Chicago and spend three days baking in the sun.

Stay away from Kings of Leon. They made my ears hurt. Only other band to do that was Sleater Kinney.

I thought maybe you liked SK, that's why I mentioned them. I'd rank KoL right up there with SK. One thing I do not give PJ props for is continuing to choose SK for opening band.

They need to add one more hard rock act. Whether it be Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of the Stone Age, The Mars Volta, anything i can just get drunk and bang my head to.

Damn right. I'm actually really dissapointed that there's almost no rock acts up there. The black keys and the black angels are pretty good but all these acts have no balls. I thought that lollapalooza was supposed be more diverse but half of these bands i've never heard of. I am psyched to see ben harper though.

Flaming Lips and Sonic Youth have played the festival MANY times...they're almost staples at a Lolla show IMO. I wasn't calling for the Smashing Pumpkins or Rage or Elvis, but I do think they will need to add more bands like I listed if they want to draw in a crowd like the previous years.

Basically what I'm saying (and this is all personal opinion of course) is that the acts that played last year in the late afternoon/early evening are more accomplished and interesting to me than the acts that will be headlining this year and playing in the early evening.

    Where's Wilco?

Really thought they'd be in the initial announcement. I mean, they're from Chicago, they have a new album out in May, and they've no tour dates scheduled past July.

Wonder if they'll be one of the future announcements.

If it's true that Lolla promises 130 bands, then the announcement of 85 or so bands today leaves some room for future performers to be added.

if you've never heard of them, how do you know they're not diverse or rocking enough?

im not gonna lie, id love the flaming lips to play again ;) but that's a fair decision, i was just kinda wondering how you pulled that list together. i mean, sure, we all have our "dream" lolla lineup, but that doesn't mean this one isn't good. if it's not to you liking though, i guess there's not much to be done about that.

Do they usually sell one day tickets? If you have a kid it pretty much rules out going for three days.... I have to see Pearl Jam, Interpol, MMJ, Modest Mouse... I like the line-up.

Great lineup. Not as strong as last year IMO. Last year was an amazing experience for me. I heard that Perry was on the radio somewhere this morning and announced that MMJ (My favorite band of all time) is playing right before PJ. Dosent get any better than this (i missed when they toured together last year. I do agree on the headliners though. Ben Harper is kinda weak. Im going to bonnaroo this year as well so im weeding out a lot of the bands at lolla cause i will have seen them at bonnaroo. Muse should be amazing though.
