Saw them live for the first time on 09/03/2005 at a place
called the Nightlight Lounge in Bellingham,Washington. It was
the day after the Vancouver PJ show. Also saw Jay Ferrar a few
years back. This band is nice and Jay's work with Uncle Tupelo is
    now legendary.

I just saw Son Volt last night on campus @ Florida State. It's been a while since I was really into their music, but I enjoyed myself listening to them again. I'm actually going to the record store this weekend to see if I can find their new one for a good price.

    It's good to re-discover bands.

Son Volt's "Okemah and the Melody of Riot" is my favorite cd of 2005. As someone mentioned earlier, they were born out of the ashes of Uncle Tupelo, as were Wilco. In the past five years all three have become some of my favorite bands. I've never seen Son Volt in concert but would love to. I did get their Austin City Limits dvd. It covers their first two albums I believe.

Good band, but I was not thrilled with their new CD. I loved "Trace." I saw them live twice in their original formation. One the "Trace" tour (spring 2000), and once on the tour for their second album (probably late 2001).
