Pretty funny if you ask me. Maybe they'll think twice about piping in the keyboard and just get someone to actually play it live.

But still, what a great way to close a show!

Really? That's weird... you'd figure it wouldn't have looked so bad to just restart the song then try to struggle through it, but if it was his guitar then you wonder why he didn't switch it out? The keys carry that song enough to where he could've switched rather easily, but who knows.

I have a hard time distinguishing the bass notes but I guess that would help determine what was off.

i'm assuming ed couldn't hear it properly through the monitors.....the guys on stage don't necessarily hear exactly what we in the crowd are hearing....but you're right....at some point i saw him walk over to offstage hoping to get a new guitar or something.....pretty strange....:)
  • This reminds me of the time White Zombie played on some MTV awards show playing "More Human Than Human", and their drummer slipped out of sync with the backing track and it turned into a huge train wreck. Rob Zombie looked so pissed! It was funny.
  • hahah that was painfully bad

no one read the article correctly in which the keyboards sample rate was at 44.1 instead of the 48 bitrate in which it's supposed to be the backing track?

that's what caused the mishap, not so much a wrong guitar or whatnot. as a guitar player, i instictively know when i'm not in tune/right key, wrong note, etc. and evh definately would've known, but at that point in time...there's nothing you can do except crank it.

I won't even waste my time with that. I saw another vid of them doing Jump on this new tour, and it was actually pretty good, especially for an audience camera.

definitely it is the keyboards that are off
there's an article or youtube video around proving it
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable

regardless of what happened, at least we can all agree that it's absolutely hilarious. Now imagine if Boom would play wrong chords and notes during PJ songs that never had keyboards in em.....hehe...hmmmmmmmmm

If you listen to other vids of jump from this tour, you will notice the Keyboard is the same as that vid. The bass is also in tune with the keys. Its the Guitar out of whack with everything else. He either grabbed the wrong (tuned) guitar or the wrong one was handed to him. I would'nt want to be his tech either way after that mess
  • It's still not as funny as this...

  • I can't playback the video at work, but surely given that it was jump, and given that Eddie van halen is such a great guitarist, he should have been able to switch accordingly.

To me the keys sound fine until the solo comes in. The guitar sounds horrible the whole way through. Either way OUCH! That was painful.
