I saw The Lemonheads last night (Evan Dando)

It was the 2nd time in a week I had seen them, first show I met Evan, but I'm really worried about him, the first show I saw he was very stoned, but very cool when I met him, we talked about NC and he gave my brother a hug, so no he's not an asshole, atleast when he's offstage. The show was at the cat's cradle in Raleigh, then I saw him again last night in Charlotte at Ames Southend and he was GONE!!!! He was playing allright but he had no energy and always just looked so fucked up, people at the shows were worried. I thought he had gotten sober? Its very sad to see cause he looked TERRIBLE! People I talked to who went to Athens GA to see him the night before said he was fucked up as hell, and one girl went to Charleston's music farm and said he was fucked up at that show too! He probobly weighs 100 pounds, no more, I just love his stuff, he's a legend, one of my favorite songwriters and its sad to see him throwing his life away on drugs. I'm by no mean straight edge but Evan was beyond high last night, he was in his own world all night, I'd be suprised if he even remembers either show!

    me too, it was difficult to watch him at times, when he played Drug Buddy I almost cried!

    As I've said before, I've hung out with Evan several times between 2000-2003 and every time he was totally wasted. This may be why he often has such a poor attitude towards others.

    aww, evan. maybe he is burnt on touring. i have friends who run a dando board so i will find out what the deal is.

    that sucks, i saw them last month in ny and beforehand someone told me evan has his good and bad nights.

    there weren't any the night i went, at least not near me. he actually let a guy on stage to do some of mrs. robinson.

    apparently there was at the cats cradle in nc last week. but i do hope evan is ok, i will find out the scoop. i hope to see him in indy in a few....

    i was hoping to see him in hoboken but i dropped the ball and got shut out..

    hey dude, im sorry to hear that. he was smokin on his uk tour. really was up for it and was great on stage. a great gig. i guess it has been a long tour for him. i think the longest he has done since the height of the lemonheads.

    I had read originally that he was touring with Juliana Hatfield. Is this true?

    The concert bill I saw for the site for the club he's playing at here in Houston mentions two other opening bands. Actually, I've read good things about one of them, Vietnam from Austin.

    I love the Lemonheads/Evan, but if he's going to put on a crappy show and show up fucked up I won't bother. It's already going to be an ordeal just to get to the show for me. IMO, Ray and Come on Feel the Lemonheads are in the top 20 greatest albums of the 90's. But I saw him a few years ago play here in Houston. It was a real stripped down show, just him and another guitarist. And I was disappointed. He seemed high and not really into it. Also, I got him to sign my Ray album but he didn't bother to even look at me or respond to a comment of mine when he did. He just seemed totally not into the whole performance that night.
