Is it worth seeing, I love the Counting Crows, and early Goo Goo Dolls, but I have never seen CC and was wondering how long they play for and what songs they play.

Counting Crows put on an amazing show, I've seen them several times before and I'm going to see them on this tour later in the week with Goo Goo Dolls. I don't know too much about the Goo Goo Dolls except for whatever was on the radio. I hear they both play about 1:15 with the Crows closing.

I actually bought the Goo's live cd/dvd and it was surprisingly good. Two Days In February is a classic song and would fit Pearl Jam doing it. They're not spectacular but a damn sight better than I ever imagined them to be.

I have seen the Counting Crows a few times. Like PJ you can;t go expecting them to play their hits. They seem to play what they want, when they want. One show the first four songs took 45 minutes to play, but not to worry these guys are excellent musicians. Adam, the lead singer, has been known to get more than a little drunk and like Ed fuck up songs towards the end of a set. Counting Crows are definitely worth going to see.

I have a soft spot for August and Everything After.
  • saw them at PNC , crows were great . Like someone said they are pearl jam esque w their setlists, they switch it around alot every night, you dont get all the hits, i know they dont play mr jones that much, its kinda like jeremy

but Adam is a great frontman, they improv & ad lib alot, & he changes the songs around (the way he sings them, the words) GReat live band, defintley check them out, Counting Crows are very underated

thats definatley true, I love the version of Round Here on the Live disk from New York, they extend the hell out of it, also the storytellers version of Angels of the Silences is great, this will be a great summer for live shows, got Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Ben Harper!

Actually you'd be suprised! I have seen the Goos twice and the counting crows once. I saw the Goo Goo dolls open for Bush and no doubt in 1996. They only played 6 songs that time, and they were all from "a boy named goo" but they were really good. That was back when they were trying to be a grunge band. I saw them on a headlining spot on their Dizzy up the Girl tour with Sugar ray and Fastball opening. Though their sound kind of tamed down, and their "hits" got more adult alternative pop rock, the show was still amazing. I was glad I went. Robbie Takack is an amazing bass player, Johnny is a strong frontman so they do pull off a decent show. Since they have released 3 more albums since Dizzy, I'm not sure what they will play all new, old or a mix. I saw the Counting crows on the recovering the satelites tour, and again it was a good show, but to me, the crows live show has lost its spark sense then. I've heard the live albums, and just don't care for the way Adam tries to draw the songs out... the way he does it just dosn't work for me he seems to be off key when he does that too. (IE Goodnight Elizabeth on the live from Amsterdam disc).

Is Johnny still playing a Uke on "iris" or has he started playing on an electric/accoustic guitar? On the Live in Buffalo disc, it sounds different so I just wanting to see if someone could clarify.
    Thanks.

the goo goo dolls were ok when i saw them open for faith no more 16 years ago but they've gone way too bon jovi since hold me up.

the counting crows cancelled 3 consecutive shows i had tickets for, because they're assholes who would rather fuck me out of $60 right away than make the $10,000+ i've spent on pearl jam since then. they make amazing music but theyre gonna have to play in my living room before i ever pay to hear them again.

Counting Crows are very underrated by the way...they are better than the "radio hits" you hear

I saw the Goos around the "hold me up" and "Boy named goo" tours...such potential...I could tolerate "we are the normal", but once "Iris" and "Name" redefined them, it was adios!

I will give them credit, as Johnny mentioned that their old fans who disliked "Iris" would probably not like any of their later stuff either.....they sold out, but were honest about it.
  • the best reason to go see those bands on tour right now is to see the opening band the working title. they rock out harder than the crows and the dolls.
