Man what a great album this is. I don't see alot of threads on it, so thought I'd give it some praise! :D

    Everything is Broken
  • I think it was the best album he did, between Infidels and Time Out of Mind, but it's uneven in places. Disease of Conceit is the worst, most po-faced song I've ever heard him do, but Man in the Long Black Coat has a fantastic lyric with a relentlessly strange mix of familiar and unfamiliar image and phrase.

Its right up there with Infidels and Time Out of Mind for me too. Love the delivery on Ring Them Bells, and the production is top notch. Reading the chapter of Chronicles that dealt with this album gave me a whole new appreciation for it.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Man In The Long Black Coat is such a haunting tune. I'm pretty fond of Everything Is Broken, Shooting Star, and Ring Them Bells too. The album as a whole would have been better if Dignity and Series of Dreams were used in place of Diesease of Conceit and one or two of the other less than memorable tracks.
