I've been a fan since the early 80's, too! They were actually the first band I loved and could recognize. I was lucky to have an older sister in college, who helped me listen to good music.
I remember the first time I heard South Central Rain when I was about 16/15 (1983?). It broke through the Wall of Who I had built around myself...I still love it!! I hope they do it!
seeing them at philly with my girl.. seen them before but they have a better album this tour to play with so it will be better... not that 2005 wasn't good but this will be a better show. I have a spare couple a tickets for phlly if anyone is interested? pm me...
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

it's an 80's week for me.....the police at the bowl tuesday and rem thursday
i'll start off by saying i'm the resident REM fan in my family, but i dragged my brother, father, and mother along to this show. we started out on the terrace; couldnt see and the sound was crap. i went for a walk about 6 songs in and found a half empty row about 20 rows under the roof. i was psyched.
from then on, the show was what it was supposed to be. i could see perfectly and the sound was awesome. the set was unbelievable-they hit several of my all time favorites like electrolite, life and how to live it, walk unafraid...
and of course, Eddie! now that was crazy. this is the third time ive heard someone say "and now welcome eddie vedder to the stage" but this was far more surprising. it certainly never gets old. i really thought they would play man on the moon-but begin the begin!?! unbelievable...as soon as it started i could hear eddie doing the "silence means security..." verse and, surely enough, he nailed it
i left the show absolutely blown away, perfectly satisfied by my first REM show. wow, theres no feeling like seeing one of your favorite artists at the peak of their powers
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.
