EPIC RECORDS TO RELEASE AUDIOSLAVE’S REVELATIONS

GRAMMY NOMINATED ROCK BAND RE-TEAMS WITH
ACCLAIMED PRODUCER BRENDAN O’BRIEN FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW RECORD

ALBUM IN STORES SEPTEMBER 5

Epic Records has announced a September 5th release date for REVELATIONS, the
highly anticipated new album from multi-platinum rock band AUDIOSLAVE.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone.com, guitarist Tom Morello described
the record as “Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire,” adding that it’s a “big
hard rock record with a funky bottom.” Among the album’s many highlights is the
groove-driven lead single, “Original Fire,” and "Wide Awake," about the
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "It's probably Audioslave's most political song
to date,” says Morello.

The Grammy-nominated quartet (vocalist Chris Cornell, bassist Tim Commerford and
drummer Brad Wilk) recorded REVELATIONS at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with
acclaimed producer Brendan O’Brien. O’Brien, whose myriad credits include Pearl
Jam and Bruce Spingsteen, mixed Audioslave’s Out of Exile record and the Live in
Cuba CD and DVD. His history with the band goes back even farther, as he
produced Rage Against The Machine albums Evil Empire (1996), The Battle of Los
Angeles (1999) and Renegades (2000) and mixed Soundgarden’s Superunknown (1994).

REVELATIONS follows 2005’s Out of Exile, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s
Top 200 and featured the Grammy nominated single “Doesn’t Remind Me.”

The full track listing for REVELATIONS is as follows:

“Revelations”
”One And The Same”
”Sound of a Gun”
”Until We Fall”
”Original Fire”
”Broken City”
”Somedays”
”Shape of Things To Come”
”Jewel of the Summertime”
”Wide Awake”
”Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye”
”Moth”

I don't know about the funk undertones... their debut was decent, Out of Exile had a few good songs on it, but this worries me a little bit. I'll have to listen to it for free on Rhapsody or something before I buy it.

Good news, I'm looking forward to it. It's gonna be really interesting to see how this funky kind of sound works, I think it'll be cool - apparently Cornell is singing in a more soulful R'n'B style, which he experimented with on Temple of the dog and Euphoria Morning, plus Morello reckons this is the best he's ever heard Cornell sing on a record, so this could be THE definitive Audioslave album.

i am a huge audioslave fan and i cannot wait for their third album. it just sounds great. i was thinking, soundgarden's third album and rage's third album were arguablly their best albums and had a bunch of great songs. if they follow the footsteps of their past bands, then this album will definately kick some major ass.

Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Hope it blows away Exile and can touch the debut, but I'm figuring it will end up somewhere in between. Hopefully, they'll avoid making a third version of Like a Stone this time around.

It's a cheesy book title too. Oh shit ... I should have left that one in the Moving Train. I'm also looking forward to the album.
