Since 'Supernova,' Star's rise is meteoric

Ryan Star may have finished in sixth place on "Rock Star: Supernova," but the exposure from the CBS reality show has already put him on top.

Last week, Star's original song "Back of Your Car" hit No. 1 on the MSN Music charts, ahead of new releases from Beyoncé and the Pussycat Dolls. To feed that momentum, the Dix Hills native rushed into the studio yesterday to record a live album with the "Rock Star" house band that will be released online next week.

As soon as I was voted off last week, Mark Burnett took me aside and said he believed in what I do," Star said yesterday. "He said he wanted to break me as an artist."

Burnett set up yesterday's concert, in front of hundreds of Star's fans, as well as the incredibly fast distribution of the album, which will mix originals and covers.

"I'm just seven days into my new life and I'm already recording a record," he said. "It's all moving so fast, but I'm riding the waves as they come"

============

I have known about him for the past 10 years and always new he would be famous.
I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.

lol! a quote worthy of the Ashton Kutcher thread! ;)

He was great on piano... I hope he does some solo stuff... i liked him better that way, than as a frontman...

  • That is pretty quick, I actually liked Ryan but he wasn't right for Supernova (which is not a bad thing).

This is awesome news. He deserves more than Supernova
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

It doesn't bode well for him when anti-rocker Dana did a better job with Baba O'Reilly than he did...

Ths guy has musical talent, but is painful to watch sing it.

  • great to hear...he actually made me sort of like a coldplay song for something other than falling asleep to..and couldn't imagine him fronting those replacements and porn stars anyway.
    Oh dear dad
    Can you see me now
    I am myself
    Like you somehow
    I'll ride the wave
    Where it takes me
    I'll hold the pain
    Release me
  • Isn't that the name of the chick from the first season of American Idol as well???

They should go on tour together...

    Ryan Star
    featuring support act Ryan Starr

They would make millions... millions, I tell you

This is so cool. I was so bummed when they gave him the boot. I would def. buy his album :)
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
  • Welcome home Ryan ... looking forward to tonight.

  • Ugh, I hated this guy. Actually, I didn't really like anyone off this show. I watched every now and then but other than the Iceland guy, I didn't think anyone was very good. On another note, I LOVED Marty Casey last time around, got the last Lovehammers CD because of it and it's not bad.
