Hard Sun Lyrics

Look at this video of the original "Hard Sun".

In the second verse, it says "when I stay to pillage her, she just throws it back at me". In the Into the Wild version, Eddie says something different. It sounds to me like "when I see her bitter charms". Anyone know why he changed it, or if it was even on purpose?

Other comments on this song:
Eddie stayed pretty faithful to the original, but he is a much better singer than this guy. Also, I don't particularly enjoy the gospel-like background singer that comes in near the end of this song. Eddie was right not to include that in his version.

The "gospel" singer is rumoured to be Joni Mitchell...

It's also "BURNED down and threw away the hours..." And Ed sings "BOUND down and threw away the hours..." which is cool...cool that he made this wonderful song his own...

This has been my fave song since 1989...

Somebody said in the youtube comments that it's Brenda Russel, although Joni Mitchell also performed on this song.

Maybe Ed changed the lyrics just enough, so he doesn't have to pay royalties to Gordon Peterson.
