(it appears my attempt to italicize the title didn't work.)

This is a beautifully depressing album. It served as my introduction to Elliott Smith a couple years ago. I've given it a few spins the past couple of evenings. Some standout tracks for me:

Coast to Coast
A Fond Farewell
King's Crossing

So many tracks that pull at your heartstrings.

"This is not my life, it's just a fond farewell to a friend."
Skeletons ain't got nowhere to stick their money.

Twilight is, for me, the saddest song ever. SO good though.

"Even if I think that you are right,
well I'm tired of being down, I've got no fight"
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

will second the amazingness of all the tracks already mentioned, especially twilight.
"Last time I think we played that song here was like, a long time ago, and there was a bonfire in the back and people were like throwing each other into it...very exciting days but a huge fucking relief that that's not how it is tonight..." Ed Irvine Night 1 2003, after Deep
