07/17/2006

Dave Matthews Band would like to thank all of the fans who helped make the first half of the 2006 summer tour one of the best tours yet.

To commemorate the 2006 summer tour, we are excited to announce that we will be releasing both nights of the Fenway Park shows as the next Live Trax volume!

This special 4-CD set will contain every note played, including new songs such as The Idea of You and Can’t Stop.

Included will be recent revivals The Last Stop and Proudest Monkey, as well as DMB’s rendition of the Fenway Park tradition, Sweet Caroline.

Please stay tuned to the website for special Live Trax preorder information and announcements regarding the availability of Fenway event merchandise.

Ahh, I should have went there. Any chance they'll do a Gorge DVD set like they did a few years ago, and like they did with Red Rocks last year?

I'm confused...audio for the Gorge is confirmed, or are you speaking of Boston?

What was the one song they played both night? Just out of curiousity.

    Well that was quick.

I don't like the 'rush release' idea for the Live Trax. San Fran came out only shortly after, too. I think these releases should be 'special' shows, and while these ones are certainly unique and this has been a great tour to follow, I think more time should pass before bestowing a Live Trax title on them.

Not that my opinion matters to them, but whatever.

Now, I'll be curious as to how many times they'll mention David Ryan Harris... er, Rashawn Ross in this Trax announcement.

Can't Stop was the one song played both nights.

    How can you say that?

    consider:

    Hunger fior the Great Light
    Hello Again
    Dreamgirl
    Lousiana Bayou
    AB Intro
    Smooth Rider

All these songs kick ass live!

I will wholeheartedly agree that live versions of Stand Up songs are more often than not superior to the album, but that doesn't mean they still aren't terrible songs. Hunger... is atrocious. Old Dirt Hill is even worse.

AB Intro and Hello Again are the only ones on your list that I actually like, both on the album and live. American Baby Intro has turned into something completely mind blowing.

yes, but I am happy I didn't have to wait years for an officially released version of Sugar Will

Also, Stand Up is my least favorite, but I think it is ok. I like "Old Dirt Hill" a lot

Hmm, that relates to a good point. It's possible they're rush releasing these to counteract any bootlegging of these- and by that I mean people actually selling them for profit. Shows like these tend to be a bit more popular in that market.
