    The attack inspired the 1994 R.E.M. hit "What's the Frequency, Kenneth." Being a good sport, Dan Rather even accompanied the band when they performed the song on a Late Show with David Letterman appearance.

    IMO, I think this is the greatest "rocker" they've ever done.

    And such a fun song to play on guitar!

    That song was what got me interested in REM's music. Didn't know about the whole attack story though....interesting, but very weird.

    Who would've thought Dan Rather could be such inspirational force in rock & roll?

    R.E.M. is brilliant from their beginning til now, but I especially love the early-mid 90s period stuff.

    they are overrated is you just consider their albums in the 1990's, but if you consider the 3 or 4 records they made in the 1980s and the context of the music scene then, and the musicians they inspired, no

    I have always just found their music boring for the most part, even their greatest hits is loaded with mostly songs that I dont find very good at all. Losing My Religion is the only song by them that I really consider to be great.
