^ Didn't expect it either. The person who thought that the reason there was lots of green screen at the shoot of the vid was because the band would be shot up in flames can kill himself now. LOL!
  • It was allright.

It would've been downright decent if Morello wasn't acting like a jackass in it (even if it's as a joke).

    The song's okay too..

Morello COMPLETELY kills it with the solo though... Mike McCready could've played the hell out of it and made Tom look like a fool. Seriously, that solo completely blew the momentum. (And i'm not one of those anti-morello nutjobs, but he missed it here).

Want some bad news? No? I don't care - The band will start touring NEXT year.

Yeah really. I'm tired of all that "audioslave breaking up!" shit.

People loveeeeeeeeeee to say bands are breaking up cuz one guy does a solo album (a guy that's done one before of all people!)

That's why when Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" came out a few weeks ago they made it extremely clear what was really going on.

well, Tom mentions in the recent AUS interview that Timmy HATES his solo in that song and they refer to it as 'the laughing monkey'..............it's certainly not imaginative but Toms smart enough to know that........I'm sure there will be other solos on the new album that will make up for it........

    ok, I HOPE!!

I'm not joking about the touring NEXT year thing. Chris mentioned it.

"Casino Royale" is scheduled to open Nov. 17 in U.S. theatres. Cornell also says Audioslave isn't planning to tour in support of "Revelations" until early 2007.

Tom's a sport about the fact that the rest of the band thinks his solos are bad/not fitting. I don't know how to feel about that though. Either he has a strong sense of his abilities or he's just not willing to listen to what others have to say.
  • I think his solos work in a lot of cases, but in "Original Fire" it's poorly poorly poorly placed.

I really like Audioslave, but this song/video is un-inspiring. There are a great group of guys but it seems like they keep re-hashing the same old technique. Semi-cool song with a TM solo that isn't much different then every other one. Don't get me wrong TM is freakin' incredible, but jesus...mix it up a bit.
  • Yeah I think the real achilles heal of the band is that Tom has a comfort zone that he rarely leaves.

Mostly with writing.. That man can do whatever he wants with a solo, but writing it's almost always the same kind of 0-3-5-7 fret riff rock.

Not a bad video by any means, but I have to concur with others that the solo is plain shit. Why on earth this is the first single I will never know, all of the other songs I've heard so far are waaaaaaaay better.

Cool video for a pretty good song. Not the best the album has to offer at all though. Bad choice for a single

As for the solo-Morello KNOWS its bad, he KNOWS its annoying, hell he calls it 'the laughing monkey'.....so, yeah its kinda funny cuz now it does sound like monkeys to me but if he knew it was annoying why would he leave it in is what i wanna know
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

The problem to me is not why he'd leave it in but why he keeps playing the "same" solo every time. I'm pretty sure the next song they release...I already know how the solo is going to approx. go.
Ugh, it kills me to see such talented guys re-create the same song stucture for EVERY SONG anymore. Ahh!
  • that song is pretty bad

I think I saw a picture of Bill Hicks that floats by at one point though, that was kinda cool.

In another interview he called it a "stangled chicken". I think he didn't formulate that on his own - someone told him.

The video is okay, but it's ruined by stupid clips of Chris singing and Tom playing. Tom looks like a moron in that video. Meh. The execution could have been better.

Original Fire is getting worse and worse every time I hear it. And considering I never liked it in the first place, it's getting to be pretty obnoxious. The other songs I heard sounded great though, and I'm still looking forward to Revelations.

Am I the only one that loves Original Fire and Tom's solo?

no, i love it as well. it's the only song i've heard from the new album and i'm pumped about it. i have a feeling (a feeling deep inside, oh yeah) that this will be the best audioslave effort so far.

I actually like the video (sans the song). But I have to agree Tom looks like a moron in that one. I almost did not recognize him. I thought he was part of the background people actually.

Is Eddie Vedder in this video???

Take a look at from 1:30 to about 1:40
Doesnt that look like Eddie with the long hair yelling into the mic??

  • Awesome Video. It seems like alot of bands have been showing older bands in their videos like RHCP's recent video.

:) He says so much in so few words...

I do think the video adds to the song... I'd probably be happier watching this on TV than listening to it on CD if that makes any sense...
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

^ The video does add to the music. But then, between Morello's posing... and Morello's solo, I couldn't listen nor watch it too much.
  • I really like the song, the video is ok, too bad for the morello solo I didn't like a lot, but still cool song
