Is there a music dvd that is better than this Pink Floyd gem. They are amazing. I wish they had somethin like that with later material(Animals, Wish You Were Here).

I own both the DVD and the video from way back. And I like the fact that on the DVD you can play the concert only with no idle chat inbetween the tunes. Not that the chat is bad but sometimes you just need to listen and absorb the tunes.

    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

I don't know what the "kqed" performace is, so I have to say I haven't checked it out.

  • yeah every time i watch it i think... "wow Echoes is amazing.. i wish they had done this kind of thing in 1977 or so.."

    i LOVE that dvd.

of course the best part of the chatting... well 2 best parts..

Roger Waters sitting there blowing smoke rings.. and then giving that rant about the machinery.. "...there's the machinery.. 10,000 people will be here in an hour.. knock 'em dead... they'd say.. 'but we need time to practice, learn the equipment..', well so did we... about 4 years.." (or something like that)

and then of course that part with Gilmour..

"some people say our music is very drug oriented... of course its not... you can trust us... *gives a very very stoned look into the camera*"

    what a great show :)

  • To come up with anything musical sounding that is as crazy as some of the stuff they pulled is hard to do. It's crazy how everybody says, if you listen to Pink Floyd you are into gettin high. According to my knowledge, David and Rick were the only regular pot smokers. Roger was more of a social smoker, and Nick done it once in a while. Roger was able to put down probably the most heard "pot cough" on tape. I can't remember exactly where it is on DSOTM, but he was askin questions for the background stuff and they were passin a j back and forth.

  • This is a truly amazing concert.I saw parts of the directors cut dvd.Way cool...........I wasn't stoned when I watched it (still thought it was trippy). But,I could see how stoners would think it was wild (Esp. when roger does the freaky "Eugene be careful with that axxxx....part).
when you get confused just listen to the music play........
