Have you listened to his other albums? Brushfire Fairytales is IMO his best of the 3. I have not heard the Curious George soundtrack yet, but I'm eager to.

Hell of a songwriter. His lyrics are concise and descriptive. Gotta love the music.

Just picked up the Curious George soundtrack. Some good songs there too. It has some songs that aren't too difficult to play along with. Relatively easy finger picking song on there too.

Probably a good album for grade school teachers to use.

Look at all those fancy clothes,
But these could keep us warm just like those.
And what about your soul? Is it cold?
Is it straight from the mold, and ready to be sold?

And cars and phones and diamond rings,
Bling, bling, because those are only removable things.
And what about your mind? Does it shine?
Are there things that concern you, more than your time?

    Gone, going.
    Gone, everything.
    Gone, don’t give a damn.
Gone, be the birds, when they don’t wanna sing.
Gone, people, all awkward with their things,
    Gone.

Look at you, out to make a deal.
You try to be appealing, but you lose your appeal.
And what about those shoes you’re in today?
They’ll do no good, on the bridges you burnt along the way.

And you're willing to sell, anything?
    Gone, with your head.
    Leave your footprints,
And we’ll shame them with our words.
Gone, people, all careless and consumed, gone

    Gone, gone, gone, everything.
    Gone, don’t give a damn.
Gone, be the birds, when they don’t wanna sing.
Gone, people, all awkward with their things, Gone.

ok...i'm an idiot. what cd is this on?

    "Symbol In My Driveway"

I've got a symbol in my driveway
I've got a hundred million dollar friends
I've got you a brand new weapon
Let's see how destructive we can be
Got a brand new set of stencils
I been connecting all the dots
Got my plans in a zip-lock bag
Let's see how unproductive we can be
I've got a light bulb full of anger
And I can switch it on and off
Situations that can be so bright
    I can't believe
    How pathetic we can be
I've got a perfect set of blueprints
    I'm gonna build somebody else
Might cost a little more than money
But what's man without his wealth?
    Got a phosphorescent secret
But don't you tell nobody else
    Next thing you know
The whole world will be talkin
About all the blues they got
They just ain't no use because
    Mmmmmmmmmmmm
    Mmmmmmm
    Mmmmmmmmmmmm
    Mmmmmmm

    Cookie Jar

I would turn on the TV but it's so embarrasing
To see all the other people I don't know that they mean
It was magic at first when they spoke without sound
And now this world is gonna hurt you better turn that thing down
    Turn it around

"It wasn't me", says the boy with the gun
"Sure I pulled the trigger but it needed to be done
Cause life's been killing me ever since it begun
You cant blame me cause I'm too young"

"You can't blame me sure the killer was my son
But I didn't teach him to pull the trigger of the gun
It's the killer on this TV screen
You cant blame me its those images he seen"

Well "You can't blame me", says the media man
Well "I wasn't the one who came up with the plan
I just point my camera at what the people want to see
Man it's a two way mirror and you cant blame me"

"You can't blame me", says the singer of the song
Or the maker of the movie which he based his life on
"It's only entertainment and as anyone can see
    The smoke machines and makeup
    Hey you cant fool me"

It was you it was me it was every man
We've all got the blood on our hands
We only receive what we demand
And if we want hell then hells what well have

And I would turn on the TV
    But its so embarrasing
To see all the other people
I don't even know that they mean
And it was magic at first
    But it let everyone down
And now this world is gonna hurt
    You better turn it around
    Turn it around

  • Although Jack Johnson has nothing on Ben Harper, I still find him very enjoyable.

About a year ago, I went sailing for three days in the Whitsundays (Australia), and the captain was constantly playing In Between Dreams. There's nothing like chilling on deck to some Jack Johnson while sailing the Pacific Ocean with blue skies and 30+ degree weather.

My friends and I contributed to the sailing experience with a little Bob Marley, Ben Harper, and Sublime.

It was the perfect soundtrack for sailing.
No time to be void or save up on life. You got to spend it all.
