Just bought new Coldplay...

I bought it off itunes at around 11:30 pm (I'm sure it was released on the east coast at midnight EST) and I'm in the middle of listening to it for the first time right now. I'm on track 3: "Lost!" Apparently, the last track of the new album is "Lost?"
SPOILER
The first track, "Life In Technicolor" is an instrumental.

Logical evolution after X&Y.
Some great tracks, good production...
2007: Copenhagen, Werchter
2009: Rotterdam, London
2010: MSG, Arras, Werchter
2012: Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin
2014: Amsterdam, Stockholm
I liked Parachutes and A Rush of Blood... were pretty good.

Thats The Shit!
but this new one is damn good, way better than X & Y
some very interesting diverse moments...Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant comes to mind immediately
im also loving 42, lovers in japan, strawberry swing.....its awesome, definitely lived up to my expectations
Some die just to live.
But I still like X and Y's opening track "Square One." I'm not thrilled with an instrumental track as an opener to an album as is "Life In Technicolor."
don't get me wrong, i think X & Y is still quite a good album and certainly better than a lot of what was coming out that year...there are definitely some great songs, like "square one", the title track, "white shadows","low", "twisted logic"...and ill admit i still love "speed of sound"
overall though i liked the change of pace here; continuing in X & Y's sort of overblown manner would have been a bad move, i appreciate the return to the murkier mood of parachutes and the introduction of diverse world elements. i dont mind the instrumental opener, its very cool, but i can see what you mean...i kept waiting for chris to at least come in with a catchy refrain or something
Some die just to live.
Lose the overproduction and go back to writing good songs.
