I like hip-hop a lot and would like to think I know my shit, and Follow the Leader is the single best rapping performance of all time. Mind blowing.

Rakim is the best rapper ever, wish he would team up with DJ Premier for a solo album..........could likely be the best rap album ever.

I still love all the old, great hip-hop albums by the likes of Eric B & Rakim, Stetsasonic, Slick Rick, EPMD, BDP, De la Soul, Public Enemy, Ultramagnetic MCs etc etc etc.
I just feel that, in my opinion, there hasn't been a decent album in the genre since around '94.
Don't think there's been a truely great album since Nas' Illmatic & Wu-Tang Clan's debut.

As for Eric B & Rakim, true innovators. Rakim has the smoothest voice & great use of lyrics.

    No decent albums? :O
Untrue. You just need to look past the mainstream and there is some amazing stuff. Firstly, there were some truly great albums from the first wave of Wu solo records, GZA's Liquid Swords and ODB's Return to the 36 chambers are classics. Ghostface Killah has also had a very consistent run of excellent solo albums. Stuff like Aesop Rock, Black Star, Blackalicious, Deltron 3030, Hieroglyphics is excellent, not to mention Jurassic 5. Don't write the genre off yet :)
