  • To get to see the King of Guitar in a small venue for $135 is pretty much a bargain, as far as I can tell.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

I wish him luck with our economy, the way it is...

I don't know. A legend in an intimate setting. I think I would have to go for it. Of course, I'm always up for small shows vs stadium shows.

Well, I'll put it this way. Coldplay are charging up to $97 for their US shows. Concerts are just way too expensive these days in general, so for B.B. King to only charge $135 for a small venue is actually pretty okay. It might not sell out, but I don't think there'll be many people complaining they didn't get their money's worth.

BB King sounded great at Bonnaroo. I wish I caught his whole set, but had to leave early for another band (can't remember who right now). I'd love to see him again, but not sure the blues will sound better coming from the big stage at Roo.

    I LOVE him.

Neil Young has a top price of $250 for an arena show in L.A. It'll be funny to see the floor full (GA for $81) and the upper levels full, but the lower loge section will be spotty at best.
  • $135 for Buddy Guy...yes....$135 for BB King, no.

No offense, huge fan of BB King (Live at Regal is unreal), but his current performance is kind of boring. The old age and diabetes has crippled him to sitting down the whole time and his performance just isn't what it used to be.

Buddy Guy, on the other hand, still puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen.

How small is this place I've seen BB twice. I had 2nd row at a casino in Norman OK. and paid 45 or 55 bucks in June of 07. Even his shows at the Keswick theater arn't that much. I think 65 at most and the Keswick doesn't hold 2500. 135$ is a bit much. Later Yostarama

it looks like a restaurant but it isn't really, although they serve horrible food.

i think the music hall holds 500.
they have a bar with a stage as well. I prefer that part of it b/c you can walk around. In the music hall, you have to sit at a huge table with people you don't know.

I'm not a fan of the birchmere, even though I saw one of my favorite concerts ever there. The room is oddly set up - feels like you're sitting at picnic tables that run perpendicularly to the stage - and thus hard to establish a vibe.
I wouldn't pay $135 to see anyone there. They do have ice cream, though. :)

As for the larger, should I pay $135 to see someone question, it would depend a lot on who and where. I spent $74 for a PJ ticket in a large venue last summer and about the same for EV in a theatre. I've also paid well over $100 for sporting event tix. So yeah, on the very rare occasion I'd pay that much. But it'd have to be one of my top five bands in a very few select venues.

yes I only go there to see my favorites, like glen phillips next sunday
    :D
I hate sitting with strangers. One time we went to a similar venue 2 years ago to see the Gin Blossoms and this married man next to me was showing off like he knew Robin the front man. He said hi to him when he walked by and went to the musician's lounge like a stalker, hanging by the door. He yelled, "HI ROBIN!" and robin turned around like, "do I know you?" written on his face. He was bugging me about having kids, just getting into my business...

I swear, I did not know they have ice cream.

I used to be a really big edwin mccain fan. We went to see him there. When it was over, about 20 minutes later, we were in the merch. room and edwin walked in. I about peed in my pants! It got too crowded, so he did a meet and greet at the bar at the birchmere. He talked to my husband more than he talked to me.

wow, that is steep. I saw BB in a small casino in Thackerville Oklahoma at Winstar for like $40. This has to be some venue, if the promoters are trying to sell for that price. BB King is good live, but the show is not worth $135.
