I don't know the origin of their name. Is that why ed mentioned gavin rossdale?
(from rollingstone) or was he just making a joke:

A mean-eyed young Republican steps from the shadows, barking, "Bush 2008! Bush 2008! Bush 2008! Jeb's running!" Then the guy grins at Vedder -- who was one of the headliners of 2004's pro-Kerry Vote for Change Tour -- gives him a sarcastic thumbs-up sign and prepares to watch the dour, volatile lead singer of Pearl Jam freak out.

Vedder stares for a moment. Then he just shrugs, mumbles, "OK, man," and heads inside. The heckler looks crushed. Riding in the hotel's elevator, Vedder laughs, showing dimples beneath his Jim Morrison-ish beard. "If he was trying to wind me up, it didn't work," he says in his whispery baritone. "Maybe he was just a big Gavin Rossdale fan?"

I can say with most certainty that it is not... named after George I or George II...

I read somewhere they got the name from the city where they grew up or something .... Bush.

Though stu gee's theory sounds more plausible.

edit: Shepherd's Bush, is where they grew up or where they lived...

Yes, they were named after the town they grew up in. Shepherd's Bush, it was called. ;)

P.S. Gavin Rossdale is HOT! ;)

    I though it was named after Gwen's Nether-region :D
    NERDS!
  • They were most definately named after Shepherds Bush. The area they all grew up.

And it is not a town... Its a borough of Inner London! Very busy, multicultural, home of a great music venue, The Shepherds Bush Empire.

One of the 7/7 bombs went off near there last year.

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

I pasted in that part above from rollingstone on the Institute (gavin's new band) board and got nasty replies. Bush is a touchy subject! so is not knowing everything about gavin...

I dont know the origin of the band`s name, but it would be very nice if your wife owed 100 times/month the total amount of money that you have in your bank account. Plus, a wife like Gwen. I like Bush tough. All of their albums.

I think they were named after Gwen Stefani's pubic hair, but I could be wrong?

how do you know that gavin is broke? bush sold alot of albums, can't recall the number though. maybe over 10 million. at least they both contribute to the family's income unlike heather mills (ex-mrs. paul mccartney who is settling for $40 million).

    In the US alone:

    Sixteen Stone x6 Platinum
    Razorblade Suitcase x3 Platinum
    Deconstructed=platinum
    The Science of Things=platinum

Throw in worldwide sales & a few movie roles and I think the man holds his own thank you.

I like Institute but I wish the boys would get back together
  • Razorblade Suitcase is extremely underrated, especially the second half.

I met Gavin backstage at a show last year. Very polite, very English. I got his autograph, and shook the hand that spanks Gwen's ass.

    Good times.

Deconstructed was the most watered down, slack-ass attempt to give a muddled impression of artistic vomit I've ever subjected my eardrums to. I found it completely devoid of anything resembling anything that is something. They couldn't have come up with a more appropriate title.

16 Stone on the other hand was the shit when I was a teenager. I saw them on their first tour, great show.
