Any thoughts? Personally some of my favorites are:

Neil Young - Live Rust
Iron Maiden - Live After Death
The Who - Live at Leeds
Metallica - S&M
PJ - LO2L
My Morning Jacket - Okonokos

S&M sucked, well at least imo.
Live - Live, I loved that cd. Never could get in the studio albums after listening to that though.
edit: I was really tired yesterday, you should read : built to spill - live and not live - live. Sorry

John Coltrane - The Olatunji Concert (last recording).

Maybe the most intense performance I've ever heard.

sounds like elephants, I've never heard anything like it, mean that in a good way. Find it far easier than Ascension though.

I adore Ascension but I do agree that Olatunji is an easier listen and I'm not sure why... I mean, it's far rougher in sound quality, far noisier... it just seems more focused. I find it really sad too. I mean, Trane was basically dying and knew it and you can tell he's giving EVERYTHING and occasionally his runs peter out and stuff and it sounds like maybe Pharoah Sanders is doing his best to cover his back but there's no need. It's PERFECT. Ferocious too.

Elephants is a good comparison :D especially the drums.

    King Crimson~U.S.A.
    Genesis~Three Sides Live
    Pearl Jam~Benaroya
Neil Young & Crazy Horse~At the Fillmore 1970

Agree with Metallica~S&M, Neil Young~Live Rust and the Last Waltz.

Disagree with Pearl Jam~LOTL.....very sub-par effort.
