This was asked in a different thread, except with a twist. Maybe I can revive this 8 year old thread. The question was, what 5 discs would you want on a desert island. The caveat? No Pearl Jam!
Anyways my choices:
Ritual de lo Habitual - Jane's Addiction Unplugged - Nirvana Aenima - Tool Jar of Flies - Alice In Chains Rust in Peace - Megadeth
Pearl Jam - Vitalogy The Beatles - The White Album Radiohead - Kid A Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique. Would the Sounds of Science count??
Honourable mentions... The Who...Who's Next Kiss...Destroyer Kings of Leon...Aha Shake Heartbreak Tool...Lateralus Foo Fighters...Wasting Light REM...Automatic for the People Led Zeppelin...Physical Graffiti
Radiohead - In Rainbows. Pixies - Doolittle. Grant Lee Buffalo - Mighty Joe Moon. Nirvana - In Utero. PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea.
Given David Bowie's passing this week, I just want to say (because I'm a huge Bowie fan and a huge Jeff Buckley fan and this thread is about Desert Island Discs) that David Bowie once said that if he could only take one cd to a desert island, it would be Jeff Buckley's Grace. Me, I'd take Grace but also sneak a phone or iPod with every single Bowie album on it as well.
Derek and the Dominos-Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs Pearl Jam-Yield Liz Phair-Exile in Guyville Jeff Buckley-Grace Jimi Hendrix-Electric Ladyland
