This kickarse melbourne band just won what is set to become Australia's most prestigeous music prize (comparable to the mercury music prize)

Check out their album "wait long by the river and the bodies of your enemies will float by" just drudgy blues inspired, neil young tinged psychedelia...

fantastic...

if you wanna hear some, ask me.... then buy the fucking album !

i was on the floor for the drones, but then went write up the back for dino, because the mix is always a bit shitty in the pit of the metro..

i was wearing a black freshjive shirt with two hands shaking...

    where were you...

ps, and yeah, lou is the man no doubt..

a also stood next to robbie buck for most of the gig...

i was on the floor for the drones.what i saw of them anyway. my left hand side of the stage. i don't remember what i was wearing but i'm sure i wa dressed somehow.
then for dino i naturally moved across to the lou side.
    god j's a talker isn't he?;)

yeah j is a strange one.. holy god he can play the gee-tar though... that guitar rig was insane... never seen three marshall stacks for one guitarist before...

i reckon every girl in the audience was smitten with lou, i heard him mentioned in a lot of conversations on the way out...

ha i was checking out the marshalls as well. in fact if i recall correctly my thought was 'check out those marshalls". it was like the berlin wall. but smaller naturally.

oh no my interest in lou is purely professional ;)
i'm gonna go check him out at the annandale next week. he's doing an acoustic set apparently.

    hey, thanks for the recommendation...
    this song is pretty good...
with the new pearl jam songs there's not as much time left for other music as usual... but sharkfin blues got PLENTY of spins, if that's any indication... i will check out their other stuff as well...

That was definitely the best song released last year, Australian or otherwise. It's the only song I wanted to see win the Hottest 100 and I don't think it even got a mention, did it? I saw it on the voting list but the whole voting thing seemed a bit too much like hard work last time around... probably the reason that bloody awful Bernhard Fanning song one. Don't get me wrong, I'm bang up for a bit of Powderfinger but somebody should've binned that solo album before it ever hit the airwaves.

bernard fanning is inoffensive. and i'd bet that things around the Js can be a little incestuous for want of a better word.
but you listen to the drones and they demand that you listen to them. they strangle the life out of every song they do. as much as i do like bernard fanning, there's no comparison with gareth liddiard, none at all.

on wait long by the river...besides 'locust', 'this time' gets me the most.

well if i offer you more love sweet kind
