springsteen question, i think

i cant remember the artist, and i think it was bruce, but they wrote a song for him to record but he turned it down. anyone know which song this is. i remember hearing this as one of those music trivial kinda things. and its driving me nuts trying to remember.

    My answer to the original question was going to be Bruce doesn't need anyone to write songs for him as he has written more than enough himself. I am right now listening to Spirit in the Night.
