have you ever traveled hundreds of miles to see your idol only to have him shit on the audience, laugh and quit the show after half an hour?

    i didn't think so.

frank was so embarassed he did a make up show at the end of the tour. my ticket stub would have gotten me in for free. i didn't go.

frank made 60 lp's. you don't have more of them than i do.

    pass your own judgement.

    jerk.

Frank has had a 50+ year career and you're still upset about a bad concert? Get over it!

Sorry to interrupt this pointless bitching session, which seems to happen far too often on these boards these days, but can anyone recommend any Zappa albums to me?

I would endorse all of these and the following.

    Roxy & Elsewhere

Shut Up N' Play Yer' Guitar / Shut Up N' Play Yer' Guitar Some More / Return Of The Son Of Shut Up N' Play Yer' Guitar - 3 albums worth of guitar solos, plenty of diversity and some of Franks best guitar work IMO.

Any of the Can't Do That Onstage albums, some great renditions of his classics!

I also love "Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa: A Memorial Tribute" that used to be available through the Zappa Family Trust: http://www.zappa.com/fz/discography/1996fzplaysthemusicoffz.html.

There's a GORGEOUS live version of "Watermelon In Easter Hay" on that (and the rest of the album is pretty fabulous, too.)

I think we may have discussed this before? But I I can't listen to Watermelon anymore, without getting a lump in my throat and going all teary eyed. It's such a beautiful tune, but I find it so sad to listen to now.
Not long before Frank died they showed a documentary on the BBC, I think Frank was in the studio putting in some work on The Yellow Shark? Anyway, there were a bunch of guys with Frank, Bozzio, Ray White, Warren Cuccurullo I think? At the end of the programme everyone was hugging Frank, and given his state of health at the time, it was like everyone was paying their last respects to the man. Watermelon was the used as the soundtrack to that scene and you would have had to have a heart of stone to not to be moved by it.

Some of my favorites are Joe's Garage, One Size Fits All, Bongo Fury and there's one that features the 1988 band called "The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life" that is expensive to buy on CD, but it's freaking fantastic.....
