So how does the PJ board feel about this? People on the NIN boards seem kind of ambivalent, as am I, and on the AFI board people seem happy.

Makes little difference to me, as i'm not a Manson fan. I liked Jeordie as a part of NIN, but not enough to follow his future carreer choices.

    You're entitled to your opinion...but I wholeheartedly disagree. :)

Nine Inch Nails. I said i'm not a Manson fan. But saying that i'm not a huge Tool or APC fan, but like I said, each to their own. :)

well, that's arguable. but it's not actually like he was "member" of NIN, he was on tour with them. Trent Reznor is NIN, it's not like Twiggy actually influenced or produced any of the music.

Very good point indeed. If you look at it that way, I would probably be inclined to agree with you oringal post. Though I have absolutely no idea to what degree he is able to influence the music of Manson/APC.

I was gonna say, that's the only person named Jeordie i've ever heard of.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

manson's just a dumbed-down version of alice cooper who takes himself way too seriously. At least Rob Zombie is able to see the joke and has a sense of humor about it.

This is a funny cartoon about Jeordie going back to Manson.

Agree about zombie, but not Alice Cooper, prob my least favourite 'musician' ever, almost as bad as kiss.....

I like Manson's intelligence......he always comes across thoughtful and genuinely interested in the arts.....

I have almost the opposite opinion. I never even really thought of Marilyn Manson as a "band", they always reminded me more of a pre-manufactured product rather than a band. I guess that's how it strikes me when image takes precedence over the actual music.

well, considering how f*@%ed up jeordie was when he played seattle with goon moon (his side project), i would say he would be a better fit with manson than with nin.

ok! ok! you said it 4 times! just kidding.

I was a little older and my impression was, when they broke out with the "Sweet Dreams" cover, they WERE something new. there was never anything that creepy or satanic or whatever in the mainstream. and they were making big news at that time everywhere they played for having crazy live shows, spitting on each other and hurting each other onstage, etc. but somewhere between that album and the Antichrist Superstar album, they got real famous and the joke just got more old. then he's on tv in an ass-less outfit, then he's dressed like a Nazi, then he's got tits. it became all shock, all the time, and everything took a backseat to the "hey, I'm the most outrageous person on earth" schtick. even though I admit there were some decent songs on that Antichrist Superstar album, I just couldn't get past the fact that the band was a complete joke.
  • Here's the thing...

when he was with Manson, he was GREAT

When he tried to fill in for Paz in A Perfect Circle, he was a let-down

and when he got the gig in NIN, he was average at best.

so hopefully he can keep the credibility he gained with APC and NIN by not being a fucking junkie again, but make a sweet album with Manson we can rock the fuck out to.

    That's my opinion.

I don't really get Marilyn Manson, all seems a bit cheap and obvious to me, but I have to confess I've never really listened.

My understanding is that Jeordie wrote most of the music when he was in Manson:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_Manson_%28band%29#Composition_and_songwriting

So it was probably quite frustrating being in Nine Inch Nails, where it is well known that your creative input will be minimal. That said, I really don't see what musical challenge there is in Manson. It smells like he followed the green dollar.
  • when i heard the news I got a stiffy thats for sure. Shame he didnt come back before I saw Manson Live last month, which was a huge dissapointment, rolll on the next album
