When was the last year the Yankees didn't make the playoffs? I need to know for a paper I am writing on a proposed salary cap for baseball and I can't seem to find this info. Thanks.

lol, funny stuff. Yeah for the teams that can afford that and the luxury tax, well, they can do whatever they want.

1994 - But nobody made the playoffs that year as the season was canceled
1993 - Last year with playoffs the Yanks failed to make it
1993 - Toronto Blue Jays Back to Back World Series Champs!!!!
Not sure why this is in Other Music?

7 different champs the last 7 season. There has never been a stretch like that in any of the major American sports. That stretch included rich teams who were large "givers" into revenue sharing (The 2004 Red Sox and the 2005 White Sox) and teams that were "receivers" (the 2003 Marlins, and oddly enough, the 2002 Angels---tho they are one of the big boys now)
If you use your resources well, you win. Even though the scales are tipped a little, no team should be cryin' right now, unless it is their own doing

Butthead: Huh huh.
Something most people choose to ignore. And there are teams that spend huge dollars that don't make the playoffs, but again, this is ignored and fingers are pointed at the few teams that both spend money AND maintain a high level of success.
Still, it all boils down to choice. MLB chooses to allow their teams to spend freely. Teams in turn let the market dictate what they'll spend. Guess what? If people CHOOSE en masse not to support a team via ticket, apparel and other miscellaneous purchases and television ratings, teams wouldn't be spending so much. If a team spends X, it means they're making that much more in return. And isn't it FAIR that if an employee can earn that much money for his employer, he should be compensated well? That's how it works in the "real world."
Sports are one of the few places that people side with big business and not the employees. Nobody has a problem with the teams or MLB making big bucks, but they want to curb the employees' salaries!
