I don't know, I've never been a fan, but I didn't think the song was half bad.
  • GNR put out quality music back in the day, so I'm going into this new CD with an open mind. I know all the "too cool for school" kids are going to trash on it simply because of the back story, but I'm just looking for good music.

Hell, it can't be worse than any of the crap that's on the radio these days.

you're crazy.appitite for destruction was probably the best hard rock album of the 80s and one of the best ever.

    after that, i totally agree.

they Def kicked ass back in the day!

Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil was also one of the best hard rock albums of the '80s (they suck now too)

Exactly, new GNR will be way better than the crap out today. Also there is a pretty sick solo in the one song I heard from the new album. Axl is a giant douche, but I just want good music.:)

I have to purchase this record just for the fact that it has taken over 15 goddamn years to release. At the very least it will be for curiosity's sake.

I am asking this in complete seriousness, not to be a jerk or anything. But is Axl Rose's voice, one of those things where you had to be there to get it? I was born in 1984, so GnR was pretty much long gone by the time I really started getting into music, and I find his voice almost unlistenable. I mean, some of their songs are alright, but I feel like his voice is just annoying. High pitched and whiny, I don't get it really. So I am just asking, are the people who like and appreciate this band mainly people who were 16-22 when these guys were huge, or do they much appeal to people who missed their biggest days?

You either like his voice or don't, its the same with any singer, when you were born has nothing to do with it.

Buried in layered music with a bazillion vocal tracks, it sounds ok, but no, not much of an actual singing voice. Can you imagine him with an acoustic guitar around a campfire with that screech? I'd break it over his head to shut him up.

    1. Because Buckethead is.

    2. Because Slash didn't exactly wow anyone with Velvet Revolver.

I guess you don't like the second half of Lies then.

    Not exactly a campfire, but...

And at the other end of their career.
    :D

    I dunno.
    Axl is a giant douche,
but you gotta give em credit where its due.
For shits and giggles go read "Five Against One", because there is basically an entire chapter about Guns N Roses and the phenomenon that surrounded them, how everyone wanted to be them, ever A&R guy looking for "the next guns n roses" ...

    ;)
