Sigur Ros-Takk?

I've only heard a small amount of their material, but what does everyone think of this latest work? I'm thinking of picking it up (although Tool and PJ are what I have my eyes on first...see how the finances are) but I would be curious to see what people think.
The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?

I have it and I enjoy it. Unfortunately i have not listened to it in a while so i am probably not the best to give you a review, but if you are a fan of them it is a good album.

  • They are not really the best driving music but its great for background music or listening to whilst on the computer. I've downloaded some stuff from their website and its good stuff. Not the sort of stuff I would ordinarily listen to (or listen too often) but I'm thinking about picking up an album of theirs.

I think its well worth your money. ( ) is still my favorite but Takk is a little more upbeat and feel good. Download "Saeglopur" if you want a sample before you buy it.

    4 stars.

I love all of their albums. Like someone said, it isn't driving music, but I can't even begin to think how many nights I put the headphones on and fall asleep to their music. I hate to say which album is my favorite, at the moment it would be: Takk, ( ), AB, Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do, Von

I bought Takk 10 days ago. Good album, but the elderly guy behind the in a big city said and showed me an album by Sigur ros and that was just out. It wasn't Takk. I didn't like the new one that much. It was purple that was a plus, but the music wasn't what I had expected.

    Anyway Takk is good.

Takk is amazing. Very atmospheric and suprisingly upbeat for sigur ros anyway. It can be a challenge to listen to, but it turns out to be very rewarding. Excellent album from an excellent band!

Takk is definitely their best work. I saw them on 2.14 and it was incredible!
  • i never bought the cd but you can stream the entire thing online in a few place, google it.

i think sigur ros are all right. agaetis bryjun was decent but () was the most pretentious piece of shit ever.

I downloaded three tracks from iTunes from Takk (having never heard them before) and my first reaction was WTF?!? The second time through I started to really enjoy it...sounds like a band that would play in Lothlorien.

Also, I could really imagine listening to this while baked...it would sound like angels playing I would imagine.

Agreed, if you don't already listen to them then () is where to start, then work backwards before buying Takk, in my opinion it's not as well put together as any of their others.

The purple CD you got is called "Von", and it's not newer than Takk... actually it's their first record, but it was re-released in the US right before Takk... was. Very experimental.

I didn’t see them this time round. I don’t know why. Guess it was the money, or the lack of it to be precise.

    But, I do like it.
