ok, for the NEW year, i decided to put two in, since i couldn't decide. however, for some reason only seven of the tracks came through off the new order cd. happy new year synergy !

The New Pornographers: Twin Cinema
Matador, 2005
Imagine if the New Pornographers listened to their modern peers for inspiration (specifically the Shins) and also absorbed (and regurgitated in bite-sized pop nuggets) the expansive progressiveness and experimental artiness of Genesis, Brian Eno and John Cale. The end result might sound something like Twin Cinema, the Vancouver-based nontet’s (welcome to the fold, singer-pianist Kathryn Calder and vocalist Nora O'Connor) third release. Twin Cinema has the winning distinction of being the most rocking set from the Pornographers to date -- and also the strangest. But it’s the psychotropic, wild-abandon approach to songcraft that makes this one a keeper.

New Order: Waiting for the Sirens' Call
On New Order's eighth studio album, WAITING FOR THE SIRENS' CALL, guitarist Phil Cunningham--who previously worked with vocalist Bernard Sumner in Electronic--replaces longtime keyboardist Gillian Gilbert. Though hordes of young sound-alikes surfaced between 2001's guest-speckled "comeback," GET READY, and this 2005 release, longtime fans will be pleased to know that these pioneers still sound like nobody but themselves.

I have Twin Cinema so I'd like to focus on the NO (if possible).

"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV

Thank you. I couldn't get in either.
New Order was a nice surprise. I feel the same way about this as I did when I heard Janes 'Strays' release. Better than they should be however not sure when I am in the mood for either band I'll put either one in. Enjoyable.
