this is the first i'm hearing of it, and alice in chains hasn't announced anything yet. however, i did just read this at ozzfest.com:
    February 1, 2007
    GROUNDBREAKING, HISTORIC OZZFEST ANNOUNCEMENT

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will make a "surprise groundbreaking, historic announcement about this summer's Ozzfest" at CIC 2007 (Concert Industry Consortium) on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m. PT at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel (The Westside Room), located at 2025 Avenue Of The Stars in Century City, California. Media arrivals begin at 10:15 a.m. The event is also open to registrants of CIC.

that would be fucking insane if alice in chains headlined...

how crazy would it be if ozzy came out and did a song with them?

or a mike inez reunion with ozzy and zakk wylde?

They said that on the radio station the other day. They said it is all but a done deal. It just has not been announced. They are usually very accurate.

It would be cool for the fans, but I thought that they wer eonly doing one tour as AIC, and then working on new material/name?

Doesn't confront me either way, but I know that a lot of diehard AIC folks have a problem with an AIC w/o Layne. I'm just happy that they're playing together.
  • while i can understand the attachment to layne, the fact is, william was an excellent frontman for aic last year. i saw them twice and he is not trying to be layne, not trying to sound like layne, but is trying to present the songs respectfully, as they were originally intended... this is far from van halen picking up the guy from extreme. william was fucking great and i would actually hope that he records with them and they carry on together. they probably won't, but if they did, they'd make believers out of the doubters...

  • i still dont understand this!!!!

AIC is dead. layne is dead. AIC is not AIC. why must they call themselves AIC when layne is not there?! pisses me off!
Seems that needlessly it's getting harder
To find an approach and a way to live
Are we getting something out of this
    all-encompassing trip?
  • AC/DC went on when their first singer died... (or second I guess)
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Part of the announcement is that they will be doing arenas instead of the outdoor venues this year and making it a much smaller festival.
