Prayer of Death by Entrance

amazing song writing
amazing album structure
amazing guitar work
amazing energy
amazing ambience

only album this year that i've listened to 3 times in a row with no breaks.

you all need this album if you're going to call yourselves fans of rock music.

  • I just spent a couple of minutes going on to myspace and listening to them.

Thanks for wasting my life with this stuff!

I can think of probably 100 cds that would be more deserving as best of the year so far. Lets start with a self titled album by a great up and coming new band called "PEARL JAM"

what I heard wasn't awful - better quality might be nice

but the album of the year is the new Strapping Young Lad.

    not even a question.

not enough of a fan of metal to get an album of the year nomination on my list.

Loveless is great, but no THAT great. Aeroplane is better, so is Slanted/Enchanted. But hey, Loveless wasn't released this year, so it's kind of moot.

hey mookeywrench did you hear the new Destroyer or the new Sunset Rubdown? Those are both great too.

The top 3 of the year so far are
    1-Pearl Jam
    2-Live-songs from black mountain
    3-RHCP-Stadium Arcadium
  • no new radiohead on the way. i think they're just playing new stuff live, with no album plans (for this year, at least)

i saw them at the greek on june 30th. the new stuff really rocked. i think they should put out the live versions. they're tight.
There's without a doubt a new album on the way, though it may take longer than some are expecting.

The new songs are awesome, it'd be so cool to pull a Pearl Jam and put out a live album.. they'd do it on the internet that's for sure.

Not a HUGE Deftones fan but I love their live shows and they're also coming out with a new release in September. Gonna call it "Saturday Night Wrist". Kinda......lame.

Ofcourse they're not going to talk junk about an upcoming release but I got a little excited when I read in an interview with Abe Cunningham that it's giong to be much different than their self titled last release and more "complete". Which is a good thing cuz I almost got physically sick after hearing that CD.

    New Lemonheads?? Excited?? Really??
  • StoneG82StoneG82 Posts: 806
J Mascis plays on two of the new Lemonheads tracks. I'm really looking forward to that record.

as of right now, Sonic Youth's "Rather Ripped" is my favorite, with the new Built to Spill in second place.

There's a Tom Waits box set titled "Orphans" coming out in september or october, apparently. It's 3 discs of unreleased Tom Waits music spanning his entire career. That should be incredible.
