Yeah, I do. :) Not that I'm a huge fan but I do like much of the stuff of his I've seen and heard. :)

Oh and I'm not one for lists but I understand the "approved list" crap and agree it's a fairly accurate representation of what you're allowed to discuss around here without getting shit canned.

I think he's ok. He's been thoroughly slammed on this board for daring to cover Black.

I loved him when he first became mainstream, but I just lost interest.

  • He's not bad, most of the covers he does are ok but never really break any new ground. I feel like if I saw him play at a bar or coffee shop without knowing who he was, I would like him better. Having heard his depressing voice on the radio so often over the last few years, I'm a little tired of it.

I can recognize he's a pretty good singer but I'm not too fond of his voice. Well... I don't not like it, I guess it just gets annoying after a while.

Yeah it's annoying that some of these bands get so much love because they are in some way associated with PJ.

Brad? Mad Season? Sleater Kinney? Drive By Truckers?

Um... how exactly are we associating DBT with PJ?

(Also, all 4 of those bands are awesome, regardless of any "associations".)
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
  • one of the best voices out there. I loved his voice since the first time I heard "Outside" and I was fortunate enough to see him twice on his solo tour. he has written a lot of mediocre songs, and a few great songs, but anyone with an open mind cannot deny his voice.

like Ed, he makes every cover his own and sings with passion.

I actually enjoyed his cover of black, considering it's only him as opposed to the whole band. I also saw him cover release and have to say it was up there. Obviously no comparison to Ed, but pretty damn good if you ask me.

Not at all. It's cool that other people like him and all... but when I hear his voice on the radio and such I always throw up a little in my mouth... Luckily I almost never listen to the radio.

  • I think he has a pretty good voice, kind of like a cross between Cantrell and Staley. I just don't really like much of his music, kind of lacks the credibility really, particularly after he had Fred Durst singing on one of his songs.

I did have to laugh when I heard his cover of 4 Non Blonde's What's Up though, he can sing pretty damn high!

Sounds like he's pretty polarizing....Much like another frontman we all know and love.
