is crap!

Let me qualify this statement by saying that I think he is a legend, but this album is crap. The lyrics are corny attempts at being clever.....

  • It's not crap. It's not great on his standards,.. but it isn't a bad album.

Ok maybe...but some of the lyrics could have been written by a middle school student.

ok. I heard he wrote it in about a week....but....he needs to take some more time on his next album.

Just cause he's Neil Young doesn't mean he can write an entire album of complete crap in a week and get away with it.

Well....he may be able to get away with it....but...

    it still sucks!

  • Yeah the whole album was written and recorded in a week or so. I think it was just an excuse to get 'let's impeach the president' released ASAP. He had something to say and wanted to say it NOW ya know?

true. he should've put out a single. And freakin crazy horse should've been with him. If neil plays loud music the horse needs to be involved.

wow, you're about a year behind the curve here.

i like "the restless consumer" a lot. yeah, the album isn't his best, but it is what it is. perhaps you'll like the next neil album, coming out next month. a live solo acoustic performance from 1971.

he was up for a grammy that's why I bring it up...

I completely agree with this post. I'm a big Neil fan and have several of his records. I understand the message he was trying to send and I mostly agree with his message. However, the songs as a whole are not very good. It is definately not one of his best records but if you have a career as long as his and put out as many records as he has, at some point you will make a bad record. Look at any band or solo artist that has been around at least 20 years. Somewhere during that career you will find a couple bad records.

ya, in the 80's he put out a bunch of bad records. I think Neil himself would even agree with that statement today. But he made a lot of great records in the 70's & 90's.

Cratively it was done in 3 days and the finished product took a week.

it kind of sounds like it, but i think it has some good parts. Restless Consumer and Roger and Out i like a lot.
