never got a chance to see him play for the guys, and modest mouse may just be one of the worst live acts out there, but what the hell!

last tour i did actually, it was a fiasco. issac was late, the band didn't take stage until 11:15 and had to stop at 12. the walkmen were better than they were. and the lonesome crowded west is one of the best records of the 90's.

I can vouch for the fact that Modest Mouse suck live. I saw them once, was one of the most disappointing live shows I've ever seen. Who knows, maybe it was just a bad night. I actually quite like their albums that I own so it was shocking to see such a piss poor display in concert. It was pretty amateur.

I liked him with The Smiths and liked him as "Former Smiths guitarist" Johnny Marr in Portland. Not an MM fan,but two outta three isn't bad.

You must be talking about the show at Rostraver. I was at that show and agree that Isaac being so late was ridiculous. However, once Modest Mouse did take the stage they kicked ass for the short amount of time they did play. The Walkmen did put on a decent set, but they did not overshadow MM.

BTW - forgot to add that Modest Mouse kicked ass at Bonnaroo last year.

i've seen em 6 times and each time they've been carrying a progressively tighter sound and focus on the music.

I think the hit or miss factor has been a case of playing sober or not sober.

as far as worst live act around because they showed up late for a gig?

Pearl jam must really suck live because Eddie quit mid show in 1995.

  • I saw MM around three years ago. After seeing the concert I wish I never went to it, due to their performance. I really dig their music, but they were not good live. Probably the worst concert I have ever seen.....I was ready to leave halfway through the concert. Oh yeah, not to bash on them anymore, but you can definately here Isaac's lisp live.

yep i am. i was right by where the 15 year olds started the mosh pit, the one that ended quickly cause everyone including myself beat the shit out of them. they were ok once they played, but after being there so long i think you could understand how underwhelmed i was. i watched them on austin city limits when they were on, thought they were even worse that night. might give them another shot, but right now they are one of those bands who are great in studio but rather lacking on stage.
