To be precise, it is originally from a short movie called "Experience" (aka "See My Music Talking"), with commentary by the blues band leader Alexis Korner. The performance of "Hear My Train a' Comin'" was impromptu: It happened at a Bruce Fleming photo session for the band, on 19th December 1967, which was being filmed for the movie. Korner restrung his 12-string Zemaitis guitar for Jimi and handed him it, to play something for the cameras on the spur of the moment. If you notice, the film runs out near the end of the song. In the film "Experience" the remaining seconds of the song are accompanied by silent footage of Jimi and Noel jamming backstage in late 1967; in the 1973 film documentary, you see footage of Jimi in his limo from the film "Jimi Plays Berkeley."

Here's some more Jimi acoustic, dating from 18th February 1969:

Here's some electric Jimi, jamming with Buddy Miles and members of the Full Tilt Boogie Band at the Newport Pop Festival, Sunday 22nd June 1969. Note the tele neck on Jimi's strat.

I always thought hendrix was a phenomeonal guitarist, but when i saw him playing the 12 string acoustic for the first time it blew me away. On a seperate note, does anyone know where I can get audio or video of SRV playing some acoustic stuff?
