I was able to score some tickets to the warm-up show...so we road-tripped it down and are third in line to get in for the GA show. wish us luck in getting and holding a good spot!

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I contemplated doing it from here in Atlanta, but thought against it as I couldn't get out of work in time. Let us know how it goes.

OMG...the show was fucking awesome! there were about 500 or so people there. we were right at the fucking barricade in the middle! jack and meg were about five feet from us.

here's some of the songs they played (not in order). i can't remember any other ones at the moment...i can't fucking hear myself think...just have ringing in my ears.

    death letter
    do
    apple blossom
    effect and cause (NEW)
    icky thump
    hotel yorba
    seven nation army
    rated x
    when i hear my name
there was another new song about breaking off a relationship--its called Martyr

both new songs were really good. effect and cause is acoustic and great lyrically...Martyr was sad sounding and great musically and lyrically.

i was there too. it was awesome. kinda short, but full of energy. they had to be exhausted.

the best i can remember they also played:
dead leaves on the dirty ground
jolene(which i thought he played extremely well)
    cannon

probably others i just cant think. i enjoyed the opening band quite a bit. dan surtain, i think. they had a real heavy 50's rock sound i thought was pretty cool. even the music between acts was great. alternating ac/dc and old blues i couldnt quite pinpoint, really set the mood. the only bad thing is i wanted a picture and they were total nazi's about no photography, i saw people get walked out. oh well the memory will just have to live in my head.

    here's the full setlist:

    Tennessee Border (Hank Williams)
    When I Hear My Name
was going to play Icky Thump...had guitar problems and picked up another guitar and played the intro to death letter while the guitar problems were corrected then played...Icky Thump
    Black Math
    Do
    effect And cause
    Jolene
    Death Letter/Motherless Children
    Hotel Yorba
I'm A Martyr For My Love For You
    Cannon/John The Revelator
    Ball And Biscuit
I'm Slowly Turning Into You (did not sing the second verse into the microphone...walked around stage and sang it, but even being in the front row we couldn't really understand it)
    We're Going To Be Friends
    Apple Blossom
    Wasting My Time

    Encore

Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground
Rated X (jack sorta tricked meg into singing her part solo...she fucked the lyrics a la Ed...and was really weak to start...it was charming...she got her confidence and sang much stronger)
    Seven Nation Army
And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....

i seriously doubt it. they had really strict rules on photos (let alone video). more than a few folks were escorted out for taking a photo...it was a no warning rule.
