STP vs MMJ

I had a tough decision to make. It's rare that great rock acts come to the Louisville, Kentucky area. And for bands like STP and MMJ (hometown boys) to have shows here are incredible (for any city, not just the Ville). Well, these two shows happen to be on the same night!!!!! Fuck....what to do??????? I've gone back and forth on this for nearly a month now. And I ended up going with the STP show. Basically, because I love both bands, and have seen both bands multiple times....but honestly I feel like each time I see STP, it could very well be the last time because of Wieland's demons. I hope its a good show.

What would you have done?

Hmm its tought but I would have went with MMJ because I've never seen them before and the show will be longer.

However, if you gave it a lot of thought then you made the right decision. Have fun. I'll be seeing STP in LA later this month.

    STP by default.

What you said........except I dont think the whole band blows, the guitars sound pretty good but the singer is awful and their music doesnt do anything for me. STP definitely.

  • STP has a far higher chance of being a complete train wreck. MMJ are pretty consistent, and pretty great. But, like you said, could be your last chance to see STP, train wreck or not.

I'd rather see one of the few great bands of this decade in their prime instead of another reunion of a band that was great 10+ yrs ago.

If MMJ is a great band of this decade...then it needs to end now.

STP by far. I like MMJ, but come on STP could break up again at any point.

I would probably see MMJ. I have never seen them but I have heard their live show gives Pearl Jam a good run.

met the drummer and some other guys from MMJ after the DC show in '06. Very cool people, very down to earth, and very fun to drink with.

I don't get the people who think MMJ suck. There are plenty of bands out there with no talent. MMJ isn't one of them.

I'd have gone with the STP show since who knows how long it will last...

Easy choice. MMJ are both a great live act, and one of the most relevent acts of this decade as someone posted earlier. STP is washed up.

If MMJ is a great band of this decade...then it needs to end now.

Then they'll just end up being a great band of the next decade. You can't stop greatness.
  • MMJ is going to be great every time

But when you buy an STP ticket, you just may get to see Scott Weiland die onstage

STP is worth more just for that.

sick i know, but seriously. Trainwrecks are amazing.

Are you kidding me this is no contest. STP. MMJ has an average singer, and thats being nice. Scott sings great. Performs great. No matter how many perosnal problems he has. MMJ are bad.

I really dont understand all the love for MMJ they really are quite sucky. As for STP they are such a great band and I would love to get the chance to see them.

I agree completely... now if we said STP vs MJ that would have a different result :)

MMJ are incredible, and STP are terrible, in my humble opinion. I think it's an easy choice. But then again, considering I think STP is a bad band, my opinion is probably biased.

    STP stinks.

I couldn't disagree more! Back in their heyday, STP was my number 2 right after PJ. I always thought they'd get back together.....the Deleo Bros have incredible chemistry on stage, and Scott is quite the showman.

MMJ, will be around a while....I envision them doing a Rolling Stone type thing...not quitting til their dead! And being from Kentucky, I get an MMJ show nearly every year....skipping one won't kill me. STP on the other hand, could have ended an hour ago, and we just haven't found out yet.
