I just stumbled across the song "Number Nine" from the Blackberry Belle album, and it literally sent chills down my spine. I have been listening to their new record alot and decided to start working my way back through their catalog, and holy shit that song just blew me the hell away.

Suffice it to say, I am embracing this band wholeheartedly (honestly I think I like them more than the venerable Afghan Whigs, Dulli's original band). Tickets for their concert next month shall be purchased forthwith.
The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.

  • Saw them a couple of months back with Mark Lanegan - fucking incredible. If you haven't bought their newest album Powder Burns yet, I strongly suggest you get it, it's easily their best.

  • That's so weird - I'm a huge fan of Mark Lanegan, and just kinda stumbled across a video of Number Nine on Youtube earlier this week, and fell in love with the song immediately. My tix for the Twilight Singers' Dublin show just came in the post today!:D

Ok I know this is a long shot, but I know they have been playing Crime Scene pt. one at some of their recent shows, I would kill to hear a live version, any chance you have it?
  • Im goin to see Greg and the boys November 19th on their European Tour, hopefully they bring Lanegen. They were supposed to play Oxegen in the summer but ended up getting drunk between Glasgow and Punchestown and never made it. Afghan Whigs were one of the best bands of the 90's imo and apparently they are releasing some new material next year at some stage.

It's awesome...it's also being given the CD release treatment in mid-November. And it's a great preview of what's to come in the near future from Dulli and Lanegan.

Yeah I can't wait to hear their album when it comes out. Then of course there are those new Afghan Whigs songs they have got together and recorded for a retrospective album.

Anything that Mark Lanegan is involved in, whether it be the screaming trees, solo stuff, queens of the stone age or twilight singers is worth checking out.

True, and I don't mean to undermine what you're saying, but in this case the real credit goes to Greg Dulli. He's been the brainchild behind Twilight since day one, back when it started with Dulli, Happy Chicheseter and the legendary Shawn Smith...of course each vocalist and musician, including Lanegan, brings something special to the table, but Dulli brings it all together.
