What's everyone's thoughts on this new Jay-Z CD? I'm loving it: Roc Boys, I Know, that Brooklyn song with the Beastie Boys sample...best of his in years.

I barely ever buy rap CD's, but this and Kanye have been awesome this year.

Getting some pretty favorable reviews too:

Yes. It's during B-Boy Bouillabaise. I love that song. There is some killer bass on that. Now I've got to hear this song.
  • OK - that Vh1 special was AMAZING. Full band doing the whole American Gangster album (minus a few tracks). WOW. i'm sure it will be rerun a million times - check it out.

  • It's commercial garbage. Jay-Z hasn't had a solid album since The Blueprint. Black Album had some good tracks. I'm sick of rappers saying they're retired and then coming back two years later and producing garbage albums. American Gangster is by far his weakest effort.

you really think that? i hate the whole retirement thing too, and his last couple albums were not up to par, but this is a little different in my opinion. there are some SOLID songs on this one. come on, "i know" and "party life" are insane.
