Is John Lennons "Walls and Bridges" better than they make it sound

Although I don't tend to listen to critics, I do enjoy reading reviews of my favorite artists' albums online in my spare time. I love John Lennon. I've always heard "Walls and Bridges" was horrible, but lately I seem to be coming across a lot of fan reviews who say it's their favorite of his. Just wondering if I should shell out the cash for it. Thanks a lot.

PS. Normally I'd just get it, but when I say I love John Lennon, I mean his Beatles input, I do quite enjoy his first three proper solo album, but none of them i'm obsessed about.

Thanks for the help.

It's got some very generic 1974, coked-up studio production values (over-the-top strings; over-the-top funk, like late Tim Buckley on steroids; insane reverb), but the songs are for the most part great John. It's miles better than 1973's Mind Games (which nonetheless, in the demos stage at least, had the makings of a good album).
