La Quinta Inn Queens (New York City)

Long Island City, NY 11101

Anybody know this area, or this specific hotel??

We booked this at a pretty good rate, and it's only about a 15 minute subway ride into the city. It was just too damn expensive to stay inside Manhattan.

So anyone know anything about this one????

I pass that all the time on the express bus on queens blvd. The area is Sunnyside which is decent and it's right near the 40th street or 33rd street stop on the Seven Train.

I'm a budget traveler and I just signed up for that place yesterday. The reviews sound like it is right on the 7 and the price is great.
  • The neighborhood is pretty good. I grew up around there; now I live a bit further out in Queens (in Forest Hills). Sunnyside is cool - a little further up Queens Boulevard are some decent pubs that I've had a good time at. The 7 train is great, too - it'll take you right into Times Square where you can either a) transfer to a downtown A, C, or E to get to the Garden or b) just get out of the subway system and walk to the Garden (it's only about 8 blocks from there.)

Don't know anything specific about this hotel, but my sister and I are hitting up both Florida shows and my dad told us to book La Quinta because it's a pretty good chain, and he stays in La Quinta about once or twice every month or two.

I'm kind of a lurker around here but am always happy to dish about Queens.

    Cheers!

It's been 20 years since I lived in LIC, but I visit there every year, and we usually stay in LIC near Sunnyside. That neighborhood doesn't have the "glamour" of Manhattan but it is safe (safe as anywhere in NYC) and it is convenient. Couple of good bars and restuarants in the neighborhood too.

And they filmed Spiderman around there! ;) Mary Jane & Aunt May's houses. Would Peter Parker steer you wrong?

I'm not a geek, I'm just married to one.

    Peace,
    KJ

did they? but it's supposed to be Woodhaven?

Sunnyside's not bad and I'm in Queens but I wouldn't tell anyone to stay in a hotel or a motel here. :)
