Yeah. Where's the substance Kanye? 'Voice of his generation' my ass.

You aren't great in any way, shape, or form...

"A consistently good band works all the different elements well. A song has to appeal sentimentally, intellectually, physically, viscerally, and dig deep down into your soul and suck you into it. And after that, of course, it'd be a matter of taste." ~ Kim Thayil from Soundgarden
  • I find his new video pretty puzzling, and funny..

No different than John Lennon saying The Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

Kanye West has made some of the best songs in the last couple of years, IMO.

This guy sure has let his mouth do the talking more than his music, which is sad considering how he changed his genre and pop altogether. I appreciate that he's done his own thing and has some brains and cred, not just another 'G' trying to show his bling to awful brainless crap with a shitty beat. He's gotten progressively worse since his first album and he seems to compensate that with making more and more outlandish statements.

  • he amuses me with his wacky hijinks and tomfoolery.
  • i read it as he's saying he's the voice of the generation that's listening to his music the most, i.e. younger people, not HIS generation (the generation that grew up with pj etc.) And in that context, I don't think he's that far off. His production is better than his rapping, but each of his albums is still always great, and widely popular with everyone from teenyboppers to music critics. And he does have some substance, those may not be the songs that become huge radio hits, but each of his albums has had at least a couple of songs that tackle some issues. He may be a loudmouth and full of himself and a jackass, but he's a talented musician, and the generation that's currently coming of age could do worse than him as their voice

Kayne seriously needs to start taking his meds.

This kind of deranged talk is likely to get him locked up.

Only a self important degenerate freak would dare to make such an absurd proclaimation.

All you have to do is ask The Gallagher Brothers where drunkenly declaring themselves as "The Fucking Greatest Rock'n'Roll band in the world" got them.

This delusional waterhead needs to realize quickly...that one doesn't simply sell a few records, suck some corporate MTV cock, and then all of a sudden out of the blue anoint themselves as "Voice of a Generation"

That title is bestowed upon you...

And believe me...A Jibber Slinging Moron like Kayne West isn't even on the short-list for such consideration .

Sure he may have a few flies swarming around the steaming pile of dog shit that he calls music...

But it's hardly grounds to develop a fucking "God Complex" this early in his career.

Someone should cork this Shit Eating Bottom Feeder before he really says something stupid.

  • People really have short attention spans nowadays, so I think entertainers like him have to do what they can to remain in the media spotlight - even if that includes calling himself the voice of a generation. He's running out of ways to compliment himself though. It's really going to be hard to top his Rolling Stone cover where he was made up to look like Jesus.

Perhaps next he could take credit for saving all those kids from the Temple of Doom with his beats.

I have to agree with a post above that said a title like that should be bestowed on a person.

Isn't it is a requirement for mainstream pop stars to at some point, flame out? Kayne started that at Bonnaroo. He is on the way down and although at one time he was a very influential pop star, he is on the other side of the hill right now. Let him go.

As my Grandmother used to say to me. Self praise, is no praise.
    ~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~

Kanye's run of albums speaks for itself. Name one artist who has maintained his level of success for as long as he has over the course of three albums. Honestly, I don't think anyone has had three consecutive releases garner the kind of critical praise coupled with mass popularity he has since Pearl Jam's run of Ten through Vitalogy. Calling himself the musical voice of this generation may be a stretch, but I can't think of anyone offhand who has a better argument than he does right now.
she was underwhelmed, if that's a word
