standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

only made me appreciate yorke more
  • I will be honset and say that I didn't watch the link in the original post, I didn't have to. I saw Gnarls Barkley cover "Reckoner" at Lollapalooza this year; it was amazing. For starters, it was really cool to hear Cee-Lo sing the song and he did a great job. His natural singing voice is much higher than Thom Yorke's so he can sing the falsetto verses with a little more power. Secondly, the musicians in Gnarl's band are all very talented and handle the playing of the song incredibly well.

This is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. Radiohead is my second favorite band behind PJ, so I was really blown away at how much I enjoyed the cover version of this song at Lollapalooza. I think I honestly enjoyed it better than Radiohead's version two nights before, but that might have to do with the surprise factor when Gnarls worked it into their set.

I was never a huge Gnarls Barkley fan before I saw their set at Lollapalooza. Afterwards though, I can honestly say that they won me over and I went out and bought their albums. They were great live and if you even slightly enjoy what you have heard of them, I would recommend trying to catch them live if you get the opportunity.
  • wow. pretty fucking cool. i'm with get right - made me appreciate yorke (and the rest of the band) that much more.

They covered Reckoner at Austin City Limits too. I wasn't looking forward to their set (was simply saving my place for the Foo Fighters set) but I didn't mind a different take on a beautiful song. Obviously not as good as the original, but it could have been a lot worse!
