Some good ones. Paris Hilton could definitely be her own band. Twisted Sister sticks out for me :D

    The Beatles
    Alice in Chains
    The Shins
    Incubus
    Jimi Hendrix
    The Arcade Fire
    Thrice
    Modest Mouse
Ben Folds (with or without his five)
Dashboard Confessional (Yeah, deal with it)

If we are only doing active bands, and I have to remove The Beatles, Alice in Chains, and Jimi, I'd add in:

    The Mars Volta
    Social Distortion
    Wilco
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

If we are including rap, my list is endless........but yes Wu-Tang is by far the best rap and 36 Chambers is one of the best albums of all time for any music

I have to include Hip-Hop since the Rock Genre (to me) is very stale at the moment.

wow, someone else who has heard of them! scenes from the second story is one of my favourite albums. unfortunately i only have it on tape. i've been trying to find a cheap copy on CD - they cost a damn fortune from ebay. that was a band who were cut off way before their prime.

apart from my brothe,r who i got into them, i have never known anyone who has ever heard of them.

One Last Laugh In A Place Of Dying... is my favorite. I also look to find the cd-albums, but if you want it you have to pay around the €150/$180 for the albums. And that are not prices for me to pay for an album. :)

Now their singer is in a band called Sophia, I heard some songs. But it isn't anywhere like The God Machine.
