The BEAUTY of *COLLEGE RADIO*

I have made several threads in the past about college radio. i am actually a HUGE fan of college radio stations. Heck, I didn't know of one, until I entered college back in 1999 when I attended Southwest Texas State University, (now Texas State University @ San Marcos).

College radio stations are the BEST stations. Occasionally, I'll listen to the commerical radio stations, but then I get really sick and tired of them fast! There are a few exceptions out there that aren't too bad, like Seattle's The End. But most of them, play the same song OVER and OVER again, which it seems like every two hours.

I worked at a college radio station for about 3 1/2 years of my college life, and it was the BEST. it got me exposed to a lot of great music that didn't have much exposure. I got into Spoon, the Pixies (b/f their reunion), Modest Mouse, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab for Cutie, At the Drive-In, Sparta, and countless of other bands. :)

so list your favorite college radio stations here :D If you work for one, then feel free to post it on here. I'll list two of the stations I am currently listening to at work:

KTSW 89.9 San Marcos, TX

KALX 90.7 Berkeley, CA

Yeah, college radio provides exposure for a lot of indie and-or lesser-known bands. It is REAL alternative radio. The main college radio station around where I live (Western New York) is WBNY 91.3 -- http://www.buffalostate.edu/wbny/

I also used to listen to Morgan State University's hip-hop show 10 years ago. Recently, I have grown to love Pandora.com.

I think a lot of people seem to forget that there were bands that started out in college radio, take for instance: Red Hot Chili Peppers :D

thanks for posting the station :)
