MY most anticipated release of 2007!
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

  • Alright... now if Cooley had a solo album coming out, we could start a thread for that, too...

Imagine how cool that would be? A Cooley solo album?

    Hmmm....

What was that quote from Patterson about Cooley? Something like, "I can write 30 shitty songs in a year and he can write 3 masterpieces in a year".

It's not verbatim, but you get the idea.

"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"

I have always sort of imagined that the Truckers go in the studio, Jason and Patterson have been sweating and fine tuning their material, picking out the best parts and the best songs, and then Cooley just comes in and pulls a couple of songs out of his ass like its nothing.
The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.

I absolutely love all the songs Cooley contributes to DBT albums; they're all awe inspiring.
I share a cigarette with negativity.

"I'll be playing some solo dates in the SE in march and april.
Stay tuned here for announcements as they get confirmed.
I'll also keep you posted about a release plan for MURDERING OSCAR (and other love songs) which I'll be mastering in a couple of weeks, some upcoming recording projects, and even a bit of DBT news as things progress."

That was dated January 26, 2007

I think that Patterson was also trying to say that Cooley is kind of a slow writer or more of a quality over quantity guy.

I won't bitch........I'll be happy with his 3 masterpieces a year as long as they're on DBT albums. :D

They all have different styles and different takes on similar themes that it's an interesting process.

  • Cooley's contributions are all jaw-droppingly good. Where the Devil Don't Stay, Space City, Marry Me and Sounds Better in the Song are some of my favorite DBT tunes... I'd argue that WTDDS is the best album opener on any DBT album...

But yes, I'll buy Patterson's solo album too...

It is quite good. The slide Jason uses sounds great. It's always a favorite when friends and I get together to play music...it just seems to go on forever.

Probably my favorite, or second favorite Truckers song, I have now been to 3 full live shows and seen one festival set, and I still haven't seen them play it. And I know it is a regular, I guess I am just damn unlucky.

I've seen them 3 times, still waiting for Living Bubba, People Who Died, and 18 Wheels....

Saw them twice last year and I'm waiting on Zip City.

18 Wheels may be one of my favorite tunes to hear live.

"They went to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee...y'all know where that is!"

Still waiting on "72 (This Highway's Mean)" and "Hell No I Ain't Happy."
