Nice line up!
A tribute album honoring The Band was released Tuesday, with fresh takes on classic songs made famous by the legendary Hudson Valley band.
"Endless Highway" on 429 Records features 21 Band songs done by such different artists as My Morning Jacket, Jack Johnson, Lee Ann Womack and The Roches.
The Band lived and recorded in Woodstock and Ulster County for years. The album, "Music from Big Pink," immortalized the house in West Saugerties in which members of The Band lived years ago. The album, "The Basement Tapes," features songs originally taped during sessions with Bob Dylan in Big Pink.
Also, Band drummer Levon Helm and keyboard player Garth Hudson still live in the former art colony community and regularly perform in public.
The complete track listing for "Endless Highway" is:
Jack Johnson: "I Shall Be Released"
The Allman Brothers: "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"
Death Cab For Cutie: "Rocking Chair"
My Morning Jacket: "It Makes No Difference"
Lee Ann Womack: "The Weight"

Robbie Robertson, not only left the area, he took all the money that was made from The Band with him. He is not very well liked in these parts.
Levon and Garth are the only 2 left here. Rick and Richard have both passed away.
A lot of the people on the record actually recorded records locally or are frequent visitors to area.
