Snow Patrol - Set The Fire To The Third Bar

I heard this song for the first time today, and im seriously loving this song, so beautiful, never thought id like a snow patrol song, but this song to me is wow
Set The Fire To The Third Bar (with Martha Wainwright)
I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from here to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I'd find your face
My finger increases of distant dark places
I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science
Their words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me
I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
After I have travelled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in
I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
And miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

they are a bunch of sellout fannies
"im just a staaarfighter pilot.." now thats the stuff
i just bought that album the other day. it is mind-blowingly different from any of their more recent work. i love it. though, final straw is still my favorite. then probly when it's all over. the new album has some great moments (third bar being one), but it is a bit too heavy on the melancholy epics for my taste. it's my least fav. im glad ive never seen an episode of grey's anatomy. i think that would ruin the band for me.

This is just g'bye for now...
Now I have their new album and the only thing that puts me off is the same things Housing Jim and soulsinging have said. But I really enjoy it and to know now (thanks to you guys) that they have previous stuff that is even better then their new stuff makes me want to look into it, so their "selling out" worked on me. Why is it that everyone is always considered to be selling out when they release songs that appeal to more than a handful of people?
