AWESOME....
I play guitar and my wife got me a drumset for my bday.... It is a beginner set and just has a bass, snare, floor tom, another tom, and hi hat and cymbal....but I LOVE IT>.......
any suggestions on songs.... or where to start....

I find that watching dvd's and concerts really help on picking up stuff.

There are tons of great lessons on youtube for drums, which is great as transcriptions are thin on the ground.
I have found that general leg strength and fitness is really important for drumming.

But really, I'd invest in a pair of hearing protectors, like found at a pistol store or home depot, and put ipod earbuds in there, and play songs you like over and over again. It's how I learned, except swap out an ipod for a record player.
